MEALS SHARING ONLINE BOOKING

MEALS SHARING ONLINE BOOKING

Responsible Hosting and Gastronomy Tourism, which are the pillars of our project in Alif Alif Atoll, find a perfect convergence in the program Meal Sharing with Families, based on a peer-to-peer collaboration between guesthouses and local families.

This section will work as a platform to provide to visitors of Alif Alif Atoll access to a unique Dhivehi cuisine meal experience with a local family in their island house.

These are in a nutshell the main components of the programme:

In each island of Alif Alif  Atoll some local families will be identified and approved by the Atoll Council as able to host a meal for tourists interested in experience the Dhivehi cuisine in an island house.

The hosting families will be featured in the section of the Portal labeled Meal Sharing with Families, together with a description of the entries of the meals they are willing to cook for the visitors and related price.

The tourists that will visit online the Meal Sharing with Families section will be able to learn about the different meals in the island of their destination and, if interested, will click on the meal that they would prefer to experience during their island holiday.

The bill for the selected meal (linked to a specific family) will be directly added online to the total amount charged to the visitor for booking the room in the guesthouse, making the owner responsibly engaged in the task to arrange in details and guarantee the event of the meal in the selected family house, and of course transfer to the family the payment of the bill, less a small fee of 10% for the service provided.

The programme is still at the drawing board stage and will be possibly ready for take-off between July and October 2020.
